Social networking websites have become a big hit in these times. The popularity of home computers and the interweb has been steadily rising in recent years. More and more people now have access to computers either at home or work or in a local library. This has been a benefit to many people as it means that even if they have limited mobility they can chat with people they know or people from their local community via the web. Many local communities have created sites to allow people to socialise with those in their local community, this means Cherwell local people can find out whats on in Cherwell and find out more about their local community.
Local clubs and associations can also use community websites like Cherwell Online to create their own websites. This means that the community site gets bigger as more local people add to it and promote clubs such as the towns archery club or charitable causes such as the Alzheimer's society. Looking for work
When I was out of work for a short amount of time I wanted to find some work locally, I seemed to be able to find jobs in Exeter, Bournemouth and Dorset through uk recruitment agencies but nothing close enough. I then typed into the search engine on my computer ‘whats on in wiltshire’ and was presented with a local community website providing salisbury visitor information and also local community information including jobs in salisbury. I was then able to talk to a local air conditioning installer, a IT consultancy and a Telecom consultancy inside the space of a few minutes. [wide career choices I know but ive had a wide vocational route]
